Kebab Disco is the debut LP from Bay Area trio Neutrals, expanding on the jangly indie/punk sound introduced on their earlier cassette demos. The album channels a wide range of late ’70s and ’80s punk, post-punk, and indie pop influences, blending sharp storytelling with melodic, guitar-driven arrangements.
The record unfolds like a loose narrative: Side A (dubbed the band’s “art school suite”) begins in Glasgow with tales of artistic rivalry, romance, and late-night misadventures. By Side B, the story shifts to San Francisco, where the protagonist confronts shifting cultural landscapes and lingering ghosts of the past.
Musically, Neutrals draw from the transitional moment between post-punk and the C86-era indie underground, with bright jangling guitars and literate songwriting that nod to the classic UK indie tradition.
Presented on black vinyl.
