The debut full-length from Los Angeles punk quartet The Linda Lindas, Growing Up channels the energy of classic punk, post-punk, power pop, and new wave into a collection of sharp, hook-driven songs sung by all four members. Built out of the band’s roots in the L.A. DIY scene, the album captures the playful urgency and melodic punch that quickly earned them a devoted following.
The group first formed in 2018 after playing together in a youth cover band organized by Kristin Kontrol (Dum Dum Girls). After honing their sound at all-ages shows in Chinatown and opening for artists like Bikini Kill, Best Coast, and Bleached, the band broke through nationally following their viral 2021 performance of “Racist, Sexist Boy.”
Recorded with producer Carlos de la Garza (Paramore, Bad Religion, Best Coast), Growing Up showcases a band that blends punk attitude with bright melodies and youthful immediacy.
Pressed on black vinyl.
Recommended if you like garage punk, power pop, riot grrrl-inspired punk
